Senior Corrosion Engineer - Scotland

Our client is an independent risk management organisation that works to improve its clients' quality, safety, environmental and business performance throughout the world. The services include independent inspection, certification, verification and validation, together with advanced engineering and risk management services. The company has an established position as a market leader in the UK Oil & Gas Sector, which is serviced by the Aberdeen operation.
They are looking to appoint a Senior Corrosion Engineer to join the Aberdeen Integrity Services department.
Main responsibilities are to provide specialist expertise in the following areas:
•Materials Selection and Review of Design Basis/Materials Suitability
•Corrosion Risk Assessment (including commissioning of appropriate databases, where necessary)
•Corrosion Management Systems/Strategies
•Risk based Inspection
•Failure Investigation
•Cathodic Protection
•Coatings
•Corrosion Awareness and Technical Skills Training
•Ad-hoc Consultancy/Troubleshooting (Process Investigation, Monitoring, Sampling, Mitigation, etc.)
•Design, Implementation and Management of (on-line) Corrosion Monitoring Systems
Other responsibilities include monitoring cost against budget, co-ordinating mobilization of specialist sub-contractors, acting as supervisor or onshore contact (day to day liaison required to monitor progress and provide advance warning of problems), co-ordinating specialist laboratory testing/ analysis, supervising assistant engineers and/or technical assistants as required and managing corrosion/inspection databases.

Applicants should have an honours degree in natural sciences, materials or engineering and a postgraduate qualification in Corrosion (or directly relevant technical subject, e.g. electrochemistry).
Professional membership of an appropriate engineering institution, Chartered Engineer or Chartered Scientist preferred with a proven in-depth track record of relevant corrosion-related experience.
