Description:
The purpose of the role is to work as part of a tender team / department to define a realistic and accurate estimate of cost/sales budgets for company’s proposed technical solutions in response to Customer tender enquiries. To translate Client and Company requirements and estimates in clear and definitive project budgets in accordance with defined scopes of work and proposed execution philosophies on each tender. Prepare concise estimates on each tender indicating all required financial information available thus enabling management to assess and approve the estimates, confident that all commercial and financial aspects have been considered in conjunction with company’s engineering, management specialists and supporting departments. Ensure that all types of estimates are developed where necessary and that basic costs are defined and comply with specifications including work/cost breakdown structures in accordance with company and/or Client procedures in respect of the scope of work. Preparation of cash flow forecast on each tender. Continuously review cost information from a variety of sources to establish trends of predicted cost thus providing a comprehensive and reliable source of information in order to achieve estimated values that can be utilised with confidence on each tender (benchmarking). Provide quantification of cost estimate associated with Risk Assessment on each tender. Share knowledge of cost engineering best practice with appropriate team members. Collate and maintain all appropriate costing information into a cost database. Input information to and support management reports. Perform cost engineering role in accordance with prescribed company procedures and processes and work instructions. Operate on a commercial in confidence basis as directed by management. Other duties as may be assigned from time to time in the context of the general role. QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE Technical knowledge of subsea controls systems an advantage. Preferably qualified to HNC level as a minimum in relevant quantity surveying, financial, engineering or business management discipline. Relevant previous experience in a commercial contracting environment preferably in the subsea oil and gas industry and subsea controls / Xtree / wellhead sectors. High degree of competence in using MS Excel is essential. Experience in the use of SAP an advantage. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work as a member of a dynamic and flexible team, with team lead potential.
